WATCH runs on ALCATEL ONETOUCH own software and works with Android and Apple devices
Alcatel OneTouch has unveiled a new smart watch that will work with both iPhones and Android devices at a launch event at CES in Las Vegas.
The ALCATEL ONETOUCH WATCH runs on the manufacturers own software and can connect with phones running on Android 4.3 (Jellybean) or iOS 7.
It has a fully circular 1.22 inch screen and a 10.55mm body. Built in to the WATCH is an accelerometer, gyro, altimeter, heart rate sensor, e-compass, NFC tag and Bluetooth 4.0 . It is also IP67 water and dust resistant.
It has a 210 mAh battery which ALCATEL ONETOUCH claims can last between 2-5 days. The WATCH is charged through a USB connection that is built in to the strap.
It will launch in several styles, including stainless steel and resin bands, and will be available in five colours – sporty dark red/volcano black, all-white, classic chrome/dark gray and metal-white.
“It’s called a wearable, so we wanted to make something that would be a pleasure to wear,” said ALCATEL ONETOUCH’s Chief Marketing Officer Dan Dery. “The watch face and the band are slim, like a regular watch, but it has the multi-functionality of a smartwatch.”
The circular design means it will be in direct competition with devices such as the LG G Watch and the Moto 360, but ALCATEL ONETOUCH claims that the WATCH will be available for “a fraction of the cost of competitors.” ALCATEL ONETOUCH did not reveal details regarding release date but said the WATCH should retail for around £100.
