Chinese manufacturer will provide tablets for every Play Touch franchisee as part of agreement with RFL

Alcatel OneTouch has been announced as an official partner of the RFL’s Play Touch Rugby League for 2015 and will provide tablets to each franchisee taking part.

Play Touch Rugby is a campaign ran by the RFL encouraging people to get in to the sport, currently operating in 30 venues across the country.

The partnership will see Alcatel OneTouch provide POP 7S tablets for every licensee, along with competition prizes, branding and merchandise across all sites.

RFL National Play Touch Rugby League Manager Dan Parkinson said: “Working in partnership with Alcatel OneTouch our goal is to increase participation and enhance the player experience across the country.

“A touch screen tablet will help each of our sites to not only track player attendance and plan sessions but create a more professional environment and sporting experience.”

Alcatel OneTouch already has a sponsorship agreement with the RFL for its Super League and will also work with it on events across 2015, including the Super League Grand Final and three Play Touch Rugby League festivals.

Alcatel OneTouch has seen a record-breaking 2014, shipping almost two million devices in 2014, its best ever total, with UK and Ireland MD William Paterson telling Mobile News last year that marketing agreements with partners like the RFL were key to its growth.

Alcatel OneTouch Head of Marketing (UK and Ireland) Tracey Hudson said: “As a partner of the First Utility Super League we’ve enjoyed working closely with the top Rugby League clubs.

“The partnership with Play Touch Rugby League is a natural step for us and we look forward to encouraging more people to try this fast paced and exciting sport.

“We’re pleased to be on board and help the clubs by providing them with the technology they need to engage and welcome more people to the sport.”
